James Meiklejohn grew up in Edinburgh, where his passion for piping began as a member of his school pipe band. After moving to the south of England for university, he maintained his connection to the instrument by playing with the Stockbridge Pipe Band in Edinburgh. Upon relocating to London, he joined the City of London Pipe Band, a relatively new organisation dedicated to raising the standard of piping in the capital.
Now a highly accomplished piper, James competes in both band and solo competitions at an advanced level. To continue refining his skills, he receives guidance from one of the world’s leading players.
In addition to competitions, James regularly performs at a wide variety of public and private events, including weddings, birthday parties, Burns nights, corporate functions, funerals, and ceremonies. He has also played for ceilidh dancers and enjoys bringing his music to lively celebrations, particularly on New Year’s Eve.
