Stuart started piping at the age of 16. He studied piping with Gurkha regiments stationed in Hong Kong. In 1997, he studied piping at the College of Piping, Glasgow, Scotland, and earned the Graduate Certificate and the Teaching Certificate from the Institute of Piping. He used to play with Hong Kong Scout Association Pipe Band for 5 years, then joined Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Service Pipe Band as Pipe Major and Piping Instructor for 10 years. Then he joined Hong Kong Pipe Band as Pipe Sergeant which won Grade 3 Southeast Asian Band Championships in 2013. In 2019, he played with Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band at the World Pipe Band Championships, Grade 3A. Currently, he is playing with the City of Manchester Pipe Band.
